Triangle Pianos is delighted to team up with Music in the City for a 'Keys in the City' event over the 28th & 29th May Bank Holiday weekend 2010.
Designed to be a celebration of piano playing in the Southampton region, Triangle Pianos has agreed to supply a grand piano for the event in West Quay Shopping Centre on Friday 28th May, and The Marlands Shopping Centre on Saturday 29th May. Russell's Removals have generously agreed to carry out all the piano logistics over the weekend.
The response from local pianists has been very enthusiastic; music students from Southampton University will perform on Friday, and various piano teachers and pupils from the area will play throughout Saturday.
The highlight will surely be an hour-long slot ( 2pm Saturday ) by Tim Morris, a physics lecturer from the University who was the 'Audience Favorite' award winner in the Pianist-Yamaha Piano Competition for Outstanding Amateurs in 2005. He will be playing excerpts from the Ravel Piano Concerto, in addition to some smaller pieces. Tim is due to play the concerto later in the year in the Turner Sims Concert Hall with a University student orchestra.
Tim Morris plays extracts from Ravel's Piano Concerto in the Marlands Shopping Center on Saturday, page turning helped by local piano teacher Diana Tizzard.
